Half Saunders capital sold
The sale of 1.6 M R. W. Saunders shares on the sharemarket yesterday, about 50 per cent of the Christchurch-based clothing manufacturer’s issued capital, drew a “no comment” from the company’s chairman, Mr Owen Tallentire, last night. The shares making up the special sale went through at 2c each, compared with a last sale price of 75c. However, yesterday’s sale was the first since the company went into receivership early in August. Mr Tailentire said that he had his own opinions about the sale, but did not want to express them until he had all the facts. A statement could be expected today once the situation had been clarified at a meeting, he said.
