Wool tweed ‘most popular’

Wool tweed carpet has opened up new home decorating possibilities and is the most popular seller, according to Mr John Attwood, the South Island manager for Cavalier Bremworth, Ltd.

Its popularity follows the Berber range. Berber is a blend of three colours such as fawns and beige or grey and black. Wool tweed introduces a subtle mix of five or six colours, creating design flexibility. A soft grey may have flecks of apricot and cobalt blue, so soft and subtle that they only become apparent at a close glance. Any of the colours could be highlighted in the drapes and furnishings.

‘Tribesman’ is beigegreen, with flecks of apricot, rust, aqua and brown, which lends itself to furnishings in jade, pink, silver or grey. Wool tweeds are made in hardtwist cut pile or loop. The same carpet in either looks quite different.

Bremworth Lewis tweed is a finer gauge and comes in stronger colours such as barley mow (fawn), blue jean and Highland thistle (mauve).

Cavalier Bremworth makes 28 ranges of carpet which are all extra heavy duty. Four different weights are made within these ranges. The huge range of choices and the cost can make buying carpet a daunting prospect. Cavalier Bremworth is displaying a wide selection of carpet at Furnishing ’B9 and knowledgeable staff will be there to advise people. Helpful videos on making carpet are being shown throughout the show.

Cavalier Bremworth has recently introduced a carpet protection scheme to guarantee the company’s product. Consumers will have the assurance of knowing that they have bought a genuine Cavalier Bremworth carpet, Mr Attwood says. The retailer should give customers a form to fill in to send to the manufacturer. They will receive a carpet care kit which includes stain remover and a carpet care booklet. A record of the purchase is kept on computer for reference should any problems with the carpet occur.
