In addition, this person will be the principal advisor to the Director GCSB on communications and technical security. Although it is not necessary, a formal tertiary qualification in the management field, or advanced staff training in a military environment would be an advantage. The terms and conditions of this position will be determined by way of a personal contract with the Director, GCSB and a remuneration package commensurate with experience and qualifications will be negotiated with the successful applicant. ASSISTANT DIRECTOR GENERAL SENIOR EXECUTIVE SERVICE The Department of Social Welfare invites applications for the position of Assistant Director General (Southern Region). The appointment is based in Christchurch. The position is a "contract" appointment under the provisions of the State Sector Act 1988. The remuneration package is negotiable, highly competitive, and performance based. This challenging position reports to the Chief Executive and is responsible for the overall management and direction of the Department's Southern Region which has a budget in excess of SM7O and 1700 staff at 21 locations throughout the South Island., As a member of the Department's "corporate management group", the appointee will share collegiate responsibility for policy direction and the overall management of the Department's activities. Applicants for the position will need to be able to demonstrate the vision, team leadership, and strategic management skills necessary to guide the Department and its services in the Region, into the 1990's and beyond.
