Auckland fired up
PA Auckland The Sydney club Eastern Suburbs will tonight face an Auckland rugby league team still fired up by its win over Australia in July, the home coach, Cameron Bell, said yesterday. “The enthusiasm is on a par or even better than before we played Australia,” said Mr Bell. “I think the game against Australia just sharpened the edge for this one. The guys are honed in for the win.” While Easts has used Auckland’s win over Australia as part of its motivation for the $5OOO challenge match, Mr
Bell has not had to look far for inspiration. "They’re another Australian side,” he said, “and that seems to get the hackles up a bit better. “And yes, getting into the Sydney competition is part and parcel of all games we play whether they’re against representative or club sides.” With Carlaw Park promising a firm surface underfoot, Mr Bell said the match should be the season’s best. “We played well against Australia — it was 3 terrific game — but I think in this one the ball will be freed up a bit more,’’ he said.
