Farming profits to rise?
PA Wellington Dairy, sheep and beef farm profits are expected to increase in the 1989/90 season, the Minister of Agriculture, Mr Moyle, told Parliament yesterday. The June farm monitoring report from the Ministry forecast that dairy farm profits before tax would be about $70,800, an increase of 25 per cent compared with $56,800 estimated for 1988/89, said Mr Moyle. “In the light of recent developments, this forecast is likely to be rather conservative,” he said. Mr Moyle was answering questions from the member of Parliament for Hawke’s Bay, Dr Bill Sutton (Lab.).
