No peace-keeping plan—Marshall

PA Wellington New Zealand will not send a peace-keeping force to Cambodia in the near future, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Marshall, said yesterday. Speaking from New Caledonia, where he has been meeting politicians over the last three days, Mr Marshall said he was saddened to hear the Paris peace talks had broken down. The talks were convened to try to reach an

accord between the four factions vying for power in Phnom Penh, before Vietnam withdraws its troops next month. Before he left for New Caledonia Mr Marshall said there was a possibility New Zealand would be asked to help with an international United Nations peace-keeping force in Cambodia. He said yesterday noone would send troops in unless they could guarantee their safety.
