Busy season for complex
Canterbury softball headquarters at Cuthberts Green will certainly not be under-used this summer.
Among the big tournaments there over the season will be the national women’s interclub championships, the South Island club league men’s finals, the annual Suburbs Lion Red tournament and the South Island men’s inter-pro-vincial tournament for the Jefferies Cup.
As well there will be plenty of club softball at Cuthberts Green on Saturday and mid-week for twilight competition matches.
The respective Winfield national inter-pro-vincial tournaments will be at Fraser Park, Lower Hutt, from Decemebr 26 to January 1 (women) and at Colquhoun Park, Palmerston North, from January 1 to 7 (men).
Some of the main dates on the Canterbury fixtures list are: October 7, open grade softball starts; October 14, schoolchildren’s competition begins; November 9 to 12, Suburbs Lion Red men’s tournament; December 2 and 3, Lion Red Jefferies Cup; December 16 and 17, preChristmas finals day; January 13, post-Christ-mas competition starts; January 27 and 28, men’s South Island league qualifying, Blenheim and Dunedin; February 10 and 11, South Island league final, Christchurch; March 24 and 25, champion-of-champions series.
