‘Shoddy’ tyres worry fitter
By
CLARE BARRY
A Christchurch tyre fitter who came across three “absolutely shot” tyres on a Japanese imported car which had passed a warrant of fitness test, says he is concerned that people are driving on “shoddy” tyres without being aware of it. The manager of Goodyear Tyres, in Durham Street, Mr Simon Heward, said three of the four tyres on a car brought to him were weathered down to the cording and “very, very likely” to blow out. The woman who owned the car had been told to replace the tyres after trying for a warrant of fitness. The car has earlier passed a test after arriving in New Zealand.
