Bradley appeal upheld

PA Auckland An appeal by the Stratford jockey, Darryl Bradley, against a decision of the judicial committee of the Counties Racing Club has been upheld. Bradley, the rider of Al Sucree in the All Black Maiden at Pukekohe on August 5, was fined $BOO on a charge of careless riding. It was alleged he caused interference to Phantasy Idyll (Catherine Douglas) and Kingship (Earl Harrison) just after the start. A sub-committee of the Auckland district committee found in Bradley’s favour on the grounds of a factual error made by an assistant stipendiary steward, Trevor Collins. This was the wrongful identification of Harrison’' mount. a its finding, the subjmmittee said it did not accept in any manner or form that the evidence given by Mr Collins was false or misleading with any intent, although it was possible to read such an allegation into submissions made on behalf of Bradley. Having decided to uphold the appeal, the subcommittee then reversed the Counties decision rather than refer the matter back to the original tribunal for a rehearing on the basis of the factual error.

No order was made as to costs.
