HOCKEY Schoolgirls Nelson took the limelight at the national primary schoolgirls hockey tournament at Clareville on Tuesday. Playing in section four, Nelson took on a couple of the big guns, downing previously unbeaten Auckland 2-0 then drawing 2-2 with Wellington. In section one, it’s a twoway battle between Wairarapa and Eastern Southland after both had two wins on Tuesday. Section two sees five teams well in the running for the top two placings. Canterbury, Southland, Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki and Waikato must all fancy their chances. Northland and Bay of Plenty are making the pace in section three.
