Devereux turns pro.
NZPA-AFP Widnes, England The British Lions centre, John Devereux, turned professional yesterday with English rugby league club Widnes for £150,000 ($NZ416,000). The 23-year-old Bridgend back joined former Wales team-mates Jonathan Davies and Paul Moriarty at Naughton Park by signing a six-year contract with the British champion. Devereux’s move takes the total paid by rugby league clubs for Welsh union stars this year alone to a staggering £665,000 (SNZI.B million).
