Shipping news
The Ministry of Transport is to carry out a study to see if laws controlling coastal shipping can be improved. The study, to be undertaken by the Maritime Transport Division, will address the economics of coastal shipping including the effect of present laws and attitudes of the maritime unions. It will also cover trends in freight rates, shipping, shore based costs and competition levels in the coastal shipping trade. The study will be released as a public discussion document at the end of October.
