Beginnings recalled
NZPA-AP Winchester, Tennessee Veteran actress and TV hostess Dinah Shore remembers some of her first performances in her father’s store here. “Daddy would put me up on the counter where the twine was. He would say, ‘Now sing, baby, sing,’ and the poor farmers would come in. I learned the value of applause,” she said.
Winchester renamed one of its main streets Dinah Shore Boulevard recently. “It’s one of the greatest treats in the world when you dare to dream and have it come true and have a homecoming welcome in your home town,” she told a crowd of several thousand.
