INDECENT ASSAULTS A woman, aged 18, was indecently assaulted in Woolston at 8 p.m. on August 16. The woman had met her attacker near the footbridge in Gould Street and had walked with him for a short distance before being attacked. He is described as Maori, aged in his early 30s, 178 cm tall, medium build, slightly wavy black hair, clean-cut appearance, wearing a dark jersey, light coloured jeans and white basketball boots.
A man is believed to have committed two indecent acts on August 25, in Rastrick Street (9.45 p.m.) and Derby Street (11.25 p.m.). He is described as European or part Maori, 175 cm tall, solid build, unshaven, short black hair, wearing white trousers and a black or navy jersey and a mask.
A woman, aged 18, was accosted as she walked home along Evesham Crescent, Spreydon, on August 24. Her attacker was a youth, aged about 14, who said he wanted to rape her. The woman stood
her ground and the youth ran off. He is described as European, small, thin build, blond hair, spiky on top and longer at the back, wearing black jeans and black jacket. BURGLARIES A pre-European Maori war club, or mere, was stolen from the Beckenham Rock Shop on Friday, August 25. A man and woman went into the shop and while the female distracted the assistant, the man stole the mere, valued at $6OO, from a display cabinet. The mere is 20cm long, made of black granite. The offenders were (male) aged late 20s, slim build, 178 cm tall, light brown skin-head cut hair, wearing black leather jacket and tight black jeans and boots. (Female), European, late 20s, 173 cm tall, slim build, dyed black long straight hair, heavily made up, wearing a short black skirt and tights. A house in Naseby Street was the target of a large burglary on August 19-20. Stolen items included a computer/printer, two colour television sets. National cas-
sette player, microwave, antique chest of drawers, seven paintings, a cordless phone, 12-speed cycle, single bed and bedding, jewellery, video and three suitcases. A black Fender amplifier, with about 12 red knobs on top, valued at $2500 and a Fender 1957 vintage, brand new guitar, sunburst colour, valued at $lBOO was stolen from CJ's Music Store, Cashel Street, on August 24. A $5OOO radio-controlled jet boat was stolen from the roof-rack of a car parked in King Street, Rangiora on August 18. The 120 cm-long aluminium-hulled craft is powered by a DTI 25 cu cm Yamaha 2-stroke motor-cycle motor and is a 1/3 scale model of a Hamilton 123 jet. The boat is black and has "Cee Bee Marine” printed in yellow along the hull and front windshield. A roll cage is fitted.
