'Biddy of the Buller’ in women’s play
Biddy of the Buller, the West Coast goldminer, Biddy Goodwin, features in Women’s Action Theatre’s new production, “Banshee Reel” by Kathleen Gallagher and Jen Rippingale, which opens at the Court II on September 1. Women’s Action
Theatre is a co-operative brought together by a common interest in theatre and giving exposure to women’s issues and women’s stories. In its previous productions, “Mothertongue” (1986), “Herlot” (1987) and “Offspring” (1988), it has developed a distinctive
style, blending dance, movement, chant, sketches and inventive staging and direction.
“Banshee Reel” will run from September 1 to 16 at 8.15 p.m., except Thursdays, when performances begin at 6.15 p.m. and Sundays, when there is no performance.
