Lockwood consultant to visit City
Graham Sawell, consultant architechtural designer for Lockwood Homes, will be in Christchurch next week-end for consultations. Well known around the country for his innovative designs and great ability to interpret the requirements of his clients, he has designed houses which range in value up to $1 million.
"The traditional ideas that many people have of Lockwood homes are based on our early designs and not on our scope of business today. “It is true Lockwood still has several standard models, but we can design any style of home to suit the client’s requirements.
“We are perceived as a systems house, but in ac-
tual fact there are very few restrictions on design and material both inside and out,” he said. Bricks, gib board and painted walls are all part
of the Lockwood design these days along with the traditional timber trend. Graham Sawell has designed several houses in Canterbury and other
parts of the South Island and has noticed a few peculiarities about the local market. "Winter sun and the alps are two major focus points, while Christchurch probably has a bigger proportion of new two-storey homes than anywhere else in the country. "Almost without exception South Island customers need an indooroutdoor area such as a conservatory to enjoy the sun both on winter days and on cool, windy summer days. “I’ll be in Christchurch through the entire weekend and I look forward to meeting and discussing with people any questions or ideas they may have concerning Lockwood homes,” he said.
