The appointee will be responsible for the overall supervision and day-to-day running of either the entire chemical or microbiological laboratories which service our powder and butter factories. The Senior Technician is supported by Charge Technicians who direct the work of small groups of qualified technicians. In addition to the primary supervision function the appointee will perform more technically complex test analyses and occasionally routine tests, and be responsible for all staff training and laboratory Q.A. This is a Level 8 position under the Award. Applicants must have proven supervisory skills and preferably be familiar with the testing of butter, powder and raw milk. They must also have either an N.Z.C.S. (Food Science, Chemistry or Microbiology), a Diploma in Dairy Technology or other suitable tertiary qualification. A 37 week 6 on 2 off roster is worked during the production season.
