Council chooses new base
The new Canterbury Regional Council has decided to make its headquarters in the old Waitaki International building in Kilmore Street, Christchurch. A six-man transition unit will move into the office within the next three months. The new council will have a staff of about 200, too many for the North Canterbury Catchment Board's office in Latimer Square. The board is one of the authorities merging to form the expected regional council.
