Messenbird murder trial
NZPA-AAP London A Sydney prison escaper, lan John Steele, has been committed for trial in London on a charge of murdering his New Zealand girlfriend. He was arrested on a London bus four months ago and accused of a string of 35
charges, mostly armed robbery from London banks and building societies. During questioning on the robbery charges he confessed to the murder of a New Zealander, Carol Lee Messenbird, aged 26, Steele was remanded in custody to a date to be fixed. '
