Town traces the perfect partner
NZPA London Bulls has found the perfect twinning partner - the English town of Cowes. The town council of the world famous yachting centre on the Isle of Wight confirmed yesterday .it had accepted an invitation from the North Island community to form a friendship link. The Town Clerk, Mr John Pearcy, said: “We had a visit recently from a member of the 1999 Committee in Bulls saying that they had been looking through the atlas
for someone to link with in England and came across Cowes. “I asked her what she thought the link was and 'she replied: ‘We thought • the. bovine connection of Bulls and Cowes ought to be togetherP “I put it to the council members who agreed without hesitation to accept If nothing else it shows that the people of Bulls have a sense of humour.” Mr Pearcy said the two towns had now entered into detailed discussions about
cementing the links. These could include exchanges between organisations and schools. The council was also considering an offer to send a deputatforrttrNew Zealand for the 1990 celebrations and had issued an invitation to. residents of Bulls to visit C °A deception was also planned for the New Zealand Admiral’s Cup'team which is on the island preparing for the defence of the trophy later this month.
