Mr Edward Paterson

PA Dunedin Mr Edward George Paterson, the national president of the Brevet Club (a club for Air Force members) has died in Dunedin. He was 73. Mr Paterson was appointed a Justice of the Peace in 1948 at the age of 32, three years after his return from overseas war service. He joined the , R.N.Z.A.F. in 1940, later transferring to the R.A.F.,

where he flew Wellington bombers with No. 40 Squadron in the Middle East and No. 99 Squadron in India. He served as president of the Otago Justice of the Peace Association in 196162 and later became the third J.P. to be honoured with life membership of the association. In 1957 he opened Dunedin’s first coffee bar. Mr Paterson is survived by his wife and son.
