Actor in drugs case
NZPA-Reuter Cardiff Anthony Perkins, star of Alfred Hitchcock’s classic horror film “Psycho,” was fined £2OO ($540) yesterday for smuggling a small amount of home-grown cannabis into Britain. Perkins, aged 57, had mailed 1.32 grams of cannabis with a street value of about £4.50 from his Los Angeles home to coincide with his arrival at a hotel in Wales where he was filming. Hotel staff delivered the package to the wrong Perkins who opened it to find an aluminium foil packet containing enough marijuana for three or four “joints” (cannabis cigarettes). The American actor, who was arrested by two detectives when he checked in yesterday, made a full admission and said it was for his own use.
