General on trial
NZPA-Reuter Havana The Cuban Defence Mi ister, Raul Castro, has called for “exemplary punishment” for General Arnaldo Ochoa Sanchez, a hero of the Cuban communist revolution, who is charged with corruption and drug trafficking. In a report to a military court of honour meeting to decide on the fate of Ochoa, Mr Castro said the general’s conduct provoked the indignation of the Cuban people. Diplomats said the corruption and drug scandal has underscored President Fidel Castro’s strong public stand against drugs.
