Search fails to find ‘Holmes’ crewman
PA Gisborne Police, television staff and family members spent a cold, wet day at Anaura Bay yesterday searching for a missing television cameraman, Joseph Von Dinklage. He has been missing since a helicopter containing members of the “Holmes” programme crashed into the bay on Saturday evening. Three divers searched round a headland without success. A helicopter also made flights over the bay. A pair of shoes belonging to one of the survivors was found yesterday. About 16 family members and friends of Mr Von Dinklage were at Anaura searching yesterday. The news operations manager, Tony Clareburt, said TVNZ was assisting the search with accommodation, transport and equipment. Mr Clareburt said he would remain in Gisborne until the end of the week. They had received tremendous assistance from everyone involved in the search and were extremely grateful. Wreckage of the helicopter will be taken to Hamilton for inspection.
