League changes

Disciplinary hearings, injuries and other commitments have taken a heavy toll on the Canterbury rugby league team to play Southern Provinces at Greymouth on Sunday. Six changes have been made in the starting lineup from that which beat Bay of Plenty earlier this month. Shane Hand is suspended, John Green and Justin Wallace face judicial hearings this evening, and Russell Tuuta and Moko Rangiaho have been omitted. But in Tuuta’s case it was not demotion — rather a suggestion he might be in the President’s XIII squad to play Australia two days after the game in Greymouth. The President’s XIII will be named today. A wing, Darryl Henare, and two of the reserves against Bay of Plenty, Willie Naoupu and Glenn Grut, did not play last week-end because of injuries. The team is.—

Carl Hall; Ricky Kara, Mike Dorreen, Andrew Vincent, Whetu Taewa; Mark Nixon, Neville Woodham; Stuart Simcott, Michael Crawford, Ron Simanu; Wayne Wallace (captain), Gary Leek; Logan Edwards. Reserves: Tia Wells, Simon Angel, John Rangihuna, Barry Goldsmith. Vincent will undergo a fitness test when the team trains at Spreydon Domain tomorrow at 6 p.m.
