Tauranga meeting called off
PA Tauranga Steady rain forced the Bay of Plenty Racing Club to call off most of its meeting at Tauranga on Saturday. Jockeys met after the running of race two, about 11.30 a.m., and decided rain was making racing dangerous as it was badly hampering visibility. A delegation of riders met the judicial panel and it was decided to make a decision at 12.15 p.m. on whether the meeting would continue. At this stage, with heavy rain continuing, the judicial committee called the meeting off. The remainder of the meeting will be run tomorrow. 1
