Sport Australians wrap up hockey series
NZPA-AAP Sydney The Australian women’s hockey team clinched the five-test series against New Zealand with a 3-0 win in the third test played in wet and windy conditions in Sydney last evening. Australia won the opening two matches in Brisbane at the week-end, 6-1 and 2-1. On a saturated supergrass surface, Sally Carbon scored Australia’s first goal from a penalty stroke in the twenty-
ninth minute of the first half. Carbon was also responsible for netting the second goal and the third came from the stick of Jacquie Pereira three minutes before the final whistle. The teams travel to Canberra today for the fourth and fifth tests at the weekend. Scorers:— Australia 3 (Sally Carbon 2 Jacquie Pereira) beat New Zealand 0 at the State Sports Centre, Homebush.
