N.L.P. sets target
The New Labour Party has a target membership in Christchurch of 2000 by October, says its leader, Mr Jim Anderton. The party now has about 900 members in Canterbury, The New Labour Party had almost 60 more members in Sydenham than the Labour Party, he said. Mr Anderton believed the party would hold its next national conference in Christchurch because of its support in the region. More than 100 party delegates elected a Canterbury regional chairman this week. He is the secretary of the Canterbury Distribution Workers’ Union, Mr Paul Piesse.
