Warehouse celebrating its first birthday
Cargo King wholesale warehouse in Riccarton celebrates its first birthday this week. During the year Cargo King has benefitted local residents and retailers and turned the Riccarton Road shopping area into a hive of activity. To celebrate the occasion Cargo King is having a three-day first birthday warehouse clearance during today, tomorrow and Saturday, with free balloons and chocolates for the children.
Cargo King is an importing company which sells goods direct to the public. This enables it to cut out the middleman and sell goods at their true wholesale prices.
Products are sourced from countries such as
Italy, France, China, Taiwan, the United States, Brazil, Hong Kong, India, Thailand, Japan, Pakistan, Germany, Indonesia and Spain, where quality goods can be bought at the right prices.
Product lines stocked by Cargo King include towels, kitchenware, furniture, floor coverings, luggage, duvets, dinner sets, caneware, telephones, exercise equipment, indoor shrubs, leather jackets, office equipment, radar detectors and glassware.
Cargo King is one of the most progressive companies in New Zealand. It has nine wholesale warehouses currently operating, with four in Auckland, one in Palmerston North, two in Welling-
ton and Christchurch’s Papanui and Riccarton branches. As well as the two outlets in Christchurch, Cargo King is now looking for an additional location.
The company director, Mr Peter Day, says: “The response from the Christchurch public has been astronomical, so our longterm plan is to consolidate our market position in Christchurch, in order to satisfy the extraordinary demand in this region.”
Cargo King Christchurch is controlled by the area manager, Mr Jeff Walker. It is especially satisfying for Mr Walker to see the Riccarton Road warehouse reach its first birthday,
because he was involved with it from the start.
His experience in the day-to-day operation of the store and his knowledge of the Christchurch people and area is a valuable asset, of which Mr Day is fully aware. Mr Walker’s assistant manager is Mr Stephen Cane. With a staff of 20, Mr Walker is adamant that staff management is an important factor in the success of Cargo King.
“I encourage my staff to be pleasant and courteous to customers at all times, which people appreciate tremendously. I expect people to enjoy shopping at Cargo King and staff attitude is a major factor which determines this.”
