Building permit value up
Permits approving $151.4 million worth of new buildings were issued last month, up 43.9 per cent on the same month in 1988. A total of 1762 permits were issued last month for new buildings, up 39.7 per cent on April 1988, the Statistics Department said. The number of permits for commercial buildings increased marginally, with 380 (360 in April 1988) worth $69.9 million ($62 million) issued. The main contributors to April’s increase were miscellaneous buildings, with $16.3 million issued, compared with $lOO,OOO the previous year.
