Drainage Board complex opened
The Christchurch Drainage Board’s new $4.5 million complex at Pages Road was officially opened yesterday. ' The two new buildings will house stores and the mechanical and electrical maintenance departments of the sewage treatment plant. They replace the old maintenance depot in Tuam Street which will be demolished to make way
for a reserve. This has doubled the number of staff at the Pages Road complex to 150. Having a central base would make the workforce more efficient and prevent any doubling of staff or resources, according to the chairman of the Christchurch Drainage Board, Mr Newton Dodge. Building began in December, 1987, and finished in April this year.
