I’m not one to gossip, but ... Larry Hagman recently discovered it cost $750 to fly a helicopter from Santa Monica to his new mountain retreat in Ojai. Since he and his wife Maj will be using the ride once or twice a week, Larry bought the airline. “Batman” is the in thing in Hollywood these days, and to celebrate his fiftieth birthday the comic-strip artist, Bob Kane, the caped crusader’s creator, is having a showing of some original Batman drawings. Some will be for sale — but you’ll have to have megabucks to buy then. The “Batman”’ movie, starring Michael Keaton is breaking all box office records. Some people said it wouldn’t make a cent. Elton John and Bernie Taupin have written an A.I.D.S. benefit song, “Love is Worth Waiting for.” Elton wants to record the song in the style of “We Are the World,” but says many of his pop star friends are reluctant.
English born Emma Samms has decided there’s gold in Hollywood beyond “Dynasty,” so she’s decided to make it her permanent home base and is applying for American citizenship. This year in Hollywood is the fiftieth anniversary of the movie, "The Wizard of Oz,” and the city has gone mad, with all kinds of Oz dolls. Starting price for the Dorothy doll is $19.95, and the special designer-numbered Dorothy doll is selling for
$4OOO. Next season American TV will screen the much awaited mini-series on the life of the late Rock Hudson. The scripts have gone way beyond the material in Sara Davidson’s authorised biography. The writers have interviewed some 220 people, sifted through thousands of pages of transcripts and interviewed hundreds of members of Rock’s inner circle.
Someone recently asked funny lady Phyllis Diller what she thought of the Indianapolis 500, and she barked back, “Personally I think President Bush should free them all immediately.” Phyllis is looking at bringing out her own range of designer clothing ... but my lips are sealed.
