O.E.C.D. hails reforms
The Government’s programme of economic reform was hailed at an O.E.C.D. meeting in Paris as an example of what other Governments could achieve if they were really committed, the Associate Finance Minister, Mr Peter Neilson, said. Mr Neilson addressed the Paris meeting of the council of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development on this country’s economic restructuring, describing the New Zealand Government as one of the most “vigorous practitioners of structural reform in the O.E.C.D. in the last five years.” The Netherlands Economic Affairs Minister, Mr Rudolph de Korte, who recently visited New Zealand, told the O.E.C.D. that New Zealand should be congratulated for its removal of subsidies, its programme of asset sales and its restructuring of the tax system.—PA.
