Shooting at boxer’s house
NZPA-AP Michigan A woman was shot to death in a bedroom of the home of the boxer, Thomas Hearns, on Saturday night and six witnesses were being questioned, the police said.
The woman, whose name was not released, was shot once in the head.
She was in her 20s and was known to the Hearns family. Detectives found a gun they believed was used in the shooting.
Hearns was in Las Vegas, where he will meet Sugar Ray Leonard tomorrow in a scheduled 12-round fight for Leonard’s World Boxing Council super middleweight title at Caesars Palace.
“He’s going forward with the fight and he says it won’t affect him in the least,” a promoter. Bob Arum, said in Las Vegas.
