Boost for boy’s buggy fund
A Christchurch pre-schooler, Michael Eaton, who has cerebral palsy, should soon have an electric wheelchair after a week-end garage sale raised several thousand dollars for him. The garage sale had been organised by members of five Christchurch Masonic Lodges to raise money to buy a Sedo buggy (a type of wheelchair) for the boy. The wheelchair costs about $6OOO. Michael cannot walk, or stand independently. He has been able to use a
buggy from the Crippled Children Society, but it must be shared with other children, so he can use it only for about one week-end a month. A lodge grand master, Mr Tony Fussell, said the wheelchair fund was now about $5300. The total included donations from individuals, freemasons, and the Fire Brigade Band, as well as proceeds from the garage sale. Anybody wishing to make a donation could send it to Mr Fussell, at P.O. Box 21263.
