Fortune defeated the Canterbury ' husband-and-wife combination of Trevor and Marie Austin, Garden City Club, 9-1, in the final. Canterbury also provided both losing semi-finalists who. were Maurice Berkeley and Pauline Hinman, Garden City Club, and Bev Tomlinson and Terry Chalmers, Northcote Club.

In the fours final Clark defeated Harry Hunt, Jim Stewart, Ngaire Hunt and Margaret Stewart, Rakaia club, Asburton, 13-6. Third equal teams were South Canterbury’s Brian.
