Set of Royal stamps lined up for launch
A set of Royal children’s stamps, featuring Princess Beatrice of York, will be launched on July 26. They will mark the sixtieth anniversary of health stamp issues in New Zealand and the seventieth anniversary of the first health camp. The Townswomen’s Guild, Country Women’s Institute, Catholic Woman’s League and business and professional women will organise stamp and first-day cover sales for the Glenelg Health Camp. Proceeds from this
year’s stamp issue will go towards the replacement of a mini-bus run by the camp. The chairwoman of the camp committee, Lady Hay, said the effort of volunteers and income from stamp sales were an important part of the camp. The Children’s Health Camps Board will issue a limited edition, collectors’ issue, first-day cover. First day covers will also be. issued by Glenelg (in two sizes) and New Zealand Post.
The stamps will also be available from postal outlets, and feature Princess Beatrice with her mother, the Duchess of York (40c plus three cents surcharge for children’s health), the Princess with the Duke and Duchess of York (same price) and the Princess herself (70c plus three cents surcharge). Orders for first-day covers may be placed at New Zealand Post outlets now, and from July 26, they*can be bought over the counter.
