A Stillwater man bought his groceries in Greymouth, wheeled the supermarket trolley through town, loaded it on the train, and then trundled home. Sergeant John Shirley yesterday told the District Court in Greymouth that the man’s goods were placed in a trolley for wheeling to the Super Value supermarket’s car-park.
The man was seen to push the $2BO trolley through Greymouth’s main street to the railway station where he loaded it aboard the Tranz-Alpine Express. When a search warrant was executed on the man’s Stillwater home the trolley was found undamaged, Judge Frampton was told. The man admitted taking it. The April 19 shopping expedition cost Daniel Henry Tait, aged 20, an Access trainee, $lOO and Court costs.
