Department of Social Welfare Installation of Computer Cabling to District Offices The Department of Social Welfare is seeking to qualify suitable organisations to tender for the supply and installation of computer cabling to its offices. Social Welfare is one of New Zealand’s largest government departments and has embarked upon a three year period of redevelopment for all its computer systems. There will be a central computer site which will be accessed from up to eighty separate remote locations throughout the country. A total of up to 4000 screens and keyboards and printers plus associated computer equipment will be installed at the remote sites during a staged two year programme commencing in August 1989. These developments will require a supporting cable technology which can handle the growth and communication variables required in a rapidly changing organisation. The Department attaches particular importance to the selection of the right business partner to supply and install the chosen cabling solution. It proposes only to invite tenders from organisations which can show they have already demonstrated the ability to handle the installation logistics across multiple sites. Organisations who wish to register an interest in being considered for invitation to tender for the supply and installation of computer cabling should write (mail or fax) to: Project Manager Computer Redevelopment Project Department of Social Welfare P.O. Box 31308 LOWER HUTT FAX: (04) 695 267 To arrive by 4 pm Friday 2 June 1989. Details of the information which the Department will require in order to assess an organisation’s ability to qualify for the tendering process will then be forwarded. MsfeK xT/’a I I'’krai .
