$U546,9 31,772 ($NZ79,545,000) in the six days between its opening last Wednesday and Monday’s Memorial Day holiday. That broke the sevenday record set by “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,” the
previous instalment in the adventures of a daredevil archaeologist that began with “Raiders of the Lost Ark.” “Last Crusade” also became the first film to gross more than SUSIO million (5NZ16.95 million) in a single day, taking in SUSII.B million (SNZ2O million) on Saturday and another SUSIO.I million (5NZ17.12 million) on Sunday. The film, directed by Steven Spielberg and produced by George Lucas, accounted for more than half of total North American boxoffice receipts between Friday and Monday, Paramount said. y‘
