Chch man new head of C.S.O.

A Christchurch man has been appointed the general manager of the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra. Mr Garth Jeune will take up the position later this month in place of Mr Kevin Oliff, whose last big responsibility for the orchestra ends with its concert this evening.

Mr Jeune is a member of the orchestra’s board and has been a member of its marketing committee. He is looking forward to continuing the orchestra’s development and extending its popularity in Christchurch.

Mr Oliff resigned in April to become manager of a New Zealand recording company based in Wellington. This evening’s concert in the Christchurch Town Hall is part of the New Zealand-Finland cultural exchange which began two years ago.

The concert features a Finnish conductor, Ari Angervo, and a Norwegian cellist, Truls Mork, playing works by Sibelius, Nielson, Burch and Haydn.
