/"*Cuierbury Childrens Theatre J AUDITION NOTICE THE ADVENTURES OF A BEAR CALLED PADDINGTON. Tuesday, June 6, from 7.30 p.m., at the Malthouse, Colombo Street Stories about animals, particularly, it seems, about small bears, capture the hearts and imagination of all children — no less those of adult children-at-heart. So this production will endear itself to actors who enjoy entertaining in this field of Children's Theatre — such a rewarding one. There are some songs — not demanding but would be enjoyed by singers — ages given are an indication of requirement only — the most important thing is the FEEL for this piece. Cast: HENRY BROWN — father of a young family — pleasant nice person. MARY BROWN — mother of the young family — also a pleasant, nice person. JUDY — their daughter — a happy youngster — soprano range. JONATHAN — their son, also a happy youngster — both the children are energetic, everyday young people — we see them as anything between 10 and 13. MRS BIRD — their housekeeper -- a stout, motherly woman with grey hair, twinkly eyes but a little forbidding I MR GRUBER — a friendly shopkeeper, genial, older age range, sympathetic role. MR CURRY — a somewhat crusty, peppery neighbour — baritone good character role. and nine roles which will be doubled by two or more actors, depending on auditions. BERT — a station porter. MISS BLOCK — a member of the Arts Society. MERVYN SCRAPE R.A. — the Arts Society judge. FLO — who looks after the laundrette. NURSE KAY POLICE CONSTABLE FLASH HARRY — a photographer. SIR ARCHIBALD — a surgeon — baritone. A ND PADDINGTON — the leading character — small as possible, but it is more important that the actor can portray a character who Is warm, friendly, lovable, energetic, enterprisingl A baritone role. One of the loveliest roles in the business. REHEARSALS — there will be some singing rehearsals soon after auditions have been held — the main rehearsals will start the week of July 9. For an audition appointment and scripts please ring Mrs Grant, 370-650. Please do not hesitate to contact the Director at 39197 or 798-866 If you have any queries about suitability for roles.
