Palm Singer Hurdles acceptor
PA Auckland Palm Singer will run in the $lOO,OOO Tanalith Northern Hurdles on Saturday after all. Owner-trainer Ken Browne had a last-minute change of mind yesterday after hearing that only 12 other horses had accepted for the race, making it one of the smallest fields in the last decade. And co-trainer Dean Phillips also left In Doubt in the field despite his reservations last week-end that the horse wasn't quite ready for the testing 4900 metres. Browne was adamant yesterday morning that he wouldn’t pay up with Palm Singer but changed his mind right on acceptance deadline when Pal O’Mine and Arak Attack didn't make the final payment. “Pal O’Mine not running changes things a bit because he’s a good horse.” Browne can’t see the horse winning after his sixth at Rotorua, but he’ll be riding for place money. “Third money is $lO,OOO and he'd get $5OOO for fourth, which is better than a lot of winning stakes,” he said. The field for the Tanalith Northern Hurdles at Ellerslie on Saturday is:— 2.50: Tanalith Northern Hurdles, $100,000: no allowances; 4190m—Valrodian (1). 63; Noble Heritage (13), Saumur (3), 60.5; Chibuku (9), In Doubt (11). Stormy Knight (7), 60; Palm Singer (10), Yes Maam (4), 59.5; Bar The Shouting (6), Corporate Raider (2), Malabar Eagle (5), Martin (8), Omarnee (12), 59.
