Westpac drops rate

Westpac Banking Corporation yesterday dropped its indicator lending rate 0.25 of a percentage point to 15.75 per cent. The lower rate, which took immediate effect, brings Westpac into line with the base rates of other large banks. A Westpac spokesman said the indicator rate had been 16 per cent for about three months and the reduction reflected a slight lowering in the bank's cost of funds lately.
