Embassy denies dumping
NZPA Suva The New Zealand Embassy in Suva has dismissed allegations that New Zealand was dumping low-quality meat in Fiji.
The rebut came after a front page report in the “Fiji Times” which said low-grade, fatty mutton flaps were being dumped in Fiji while New Zealand sold prime quality meat to the United States and the Middle East. The New Zealand trade commissioner, Mr lan Grooby, described the allegation as a “storm in a tea cup.”
“It’s a load of rubbish. New Zealand is providing a quality product. The importers are getting what they are ordering.” The allegation was first made at a conference on agricultural development in Suva a month ago.
