Course on musical theatre
The Polynesian Performing Arts Trust is holding a training course on musical theatre, starting next month. The course will combine the three disciplines in musical theatre, which need to choere in order to give an all-round performance. An overview of the history of musical theatre will be incorporated looking at the changes that have occurred in each decade. Bryan Aitken will take the script and acting technique section on Tuesday evenings from June 13 to July 18. Sharon Howells will take movement and dance, looking at the styles required in each period; this section will run on Thursday evenings from July 6 to August 10. Don Brown will take music, singing and music appreciation of the changing forces from Jerome Kern to Andrew Lloyd Webber; this section will run from July 25 to August 29 on Tuesday evenings. Each session will last hours. The cost for 18 sessions is $228 before GST; the cost per night is $12.70. The course will be held at 162 Lichfield Street.
