Lambs fetch high prices at weekly sale

Addington market

One of the best lamb sales this year was held at the Addington Saleyards yesterday. A combination of factors pushed prices up by $4 and several sales were made at $3O or more. A small cattle yarding, with a lack of heavy stock, sold well with good demand from buyers. Old ewes were able to improve a little on recent weeks but a large number of two-tooths eased in value. Prime iambs Prices rose about $4 on last week’s sale for another small yarding of 1158. A total of 909 was offered last week. A lack of good quality lambs in Canterbury led to competition among buyers. An increase in schedule rates from last week also helped boost prices. Many sales were made at $2B. Values were.— Heavy lambs, $27 to $32, with occasional sales to

$35.40. Medium lambs, $22 to $26. Light lambs, $l7 to $2l. Sales included. — M. W. Morrison (Culverden), 13 at $25 to $26; Conway Downs (Kaikoura), 47 at $23.80 to $25.80; J. L. and M.
