Boycott unlikely
PA Wellington Prospects of an African boycott of the 1990 Auckland Commonwealth Games are very remote, the Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association chairman, Bill Garlick, said yesterday. He was commenting after reports that the English Rugby Union is set to follow Scotland and Wales in passing invitations to players to attend South African rugby centenary celebrations. English newspapers said the decision was passed by a substantial majority at a recent English Rugby Union committee meeting. An official announcement is expected some time next week.
