Climbers set for Nepal
An expedition led by Christchurch mountaineer, lan Stevens, is preparing to scale the east face of Kusum-Kan-gru, a 6500 m peak in the Solo Khumbu region of Nepal. The six-man team will leave New Zealand in August for Katmandu. The team will stop in Singapore to pick up food and supplies for the 12-day walk to base camp in the Hinku Valley and for the climb. The east face of Kusum-Kangru is a steep mixed route, similar in complexity to the North Face of the Eiger. The climb is expected to take about 23 days.
