Army truck crashes
By
BARRY CLARKE
A Territorial soldier and a civilian escaped serious injury when their Army cargo truck overturned near Dunsandel yesterday. Private Michael Ford, a cook, and Mr Sam Christie walked from the badly damaged cab of the Mercedes Benz Unimog with cuts and bruises. They were treated at the Burnham Camp hospital. An Army spokesman, Captain lan Lattimore, would not say who was driving the vehicle. The seven-tonne truck went out of control after crossing a railway line about 3km north of Dunsandel. It hit a crash barrier and spun before landing upside down on the railway line about 100 m from the road. A passing motorist who saw the accident was being sought by the Ministry of Transport last evening.
